Our Commitment to Industry Education
A Legacy of Giving Back to the Future of Energy
The Permian Basin International Oil Show (PBIOS) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering education and innovation within the oil and gas industry. As a premier industry event, PBIOS serves as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge technology, sharing knowledge, and supporting the next generation of energy professionals.
Since 2007, PBIOS has contributed $1.71 million in scholarship donations to local educational institutions, ensuring that students receive the training and education necessary to excel in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. Our contributions have supported students in engineering, and vital technical trades such as welding, trucking, and oilfield technology—critical roles that sustain the Permian Basin’s position as the most active energy-producing region in the country.
Educational Partnerships and Contributions
In 2023 alone, PBIOS donated $310,000 to the following institutions:
- $100,000 to The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB)
- $80,000 to Midland College
- $80,000 to Odessa College
- $50,000 to Texas Tech University
These donations help fund engineering and technical programs, equipping students with the skills necessary to drive industry advancements.
Why We Invest in Education
“The young men and women educated at our local colleges and universities are indispensable to the success of our industry and region,” according to Tony Fry, PBIOS Executive Director. “The PBIOS board is honored to support these institutions, funding programs essential for future innovations needed to meet the increasing energy demands of our nation.”
By supporting students pursuing both traditional college education and technical trade careers, PBIOS ensures that the energy sector continues to thrive with a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
